Lady Gaga is one of the most prominent pop figures of the 2010s onward, known for her artistic EDM pop style and talented singing. Hits like “Bad Romance”, “Poker Face”, and “Born This Way” dominated the charts upon release. However, her 2013 album Artpop didn’t receive as much acclaim as her first two. While the other singles such as “Applause” did well, “G.U.Y.” in particular failed to meet the standards of her former releases. Today we’re going to go over why “G.U.Y.” may not have landed as well publicly compared to others in her discography or as well as other songs of the era.

NOTICE: As we’re about to talk about soon, G.U.Y. has some rather suggestive lyrics. This is a somewhat cleaner version on YouTube. For the original version on Spotify, you can go to the bottom of the page.

Conclusion

Like the lame commoner I am, I’ve only heard the hits and never listened to the whole album (No offense to any fellow lame commoners out there).

Kids, excuse the album artwork.
